Tristan Taormino is an award-winning author, sex educator, college lecturer, podcast host, and retired feminist pornographer. She is the author of eight books, including Opening Up: A Guide to Creating and Sustaining Open Relationships, The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women, and her memoir A Part of the Heart Can’t Be Eaten. She is the editor or co-editor of twenty-five anthologies including The Ultimate Guide to Kink: BDSM, Role Play and the Erotic Edge, The Feminist Porn Book and Sometimes She Lets Me: Best Butch/Femme Erotica, which won a Lambda Literary Award and the Samois Anthology Award from the National Leather Association. She is also founding editor of the award-winning series Best Lesbian Erotica. She hosted the podcast Sex Out Loud from 2012 to 2020. She directed and produced 24 educational and porn films, including Rough Sex, a series that explores women’s real kink fantasies Rough Sex has garnered a Feminist Porn Award, several AVN Award nominations, and two Audience Awards from The CineKink Film Festival. She has been in the BDSM scene since the early 1990s, and has taught, keynoted, and emceed for over two hundred kink organizations and events around the world. She co-founded and co-hosted Throb, a queer play party called Throb in New York, which become the long-running Submit. She is the co-founder of Dark Odyssey and produced the event for 8 years. She has been honored with the Vaughn Keith National Educator of the Year Award from Black Rose, a nomination for Pantheon of Leather Businessperson of the Year, and the Lesbian Sex Mafia Appreciation Award.
